Asda Blue Light Card Discount: The Cashback Has Ended

Asda no longer gives Blue Light Card holders cashback. The partnership that paid a percentage back into the Asda Rewards Cashpot on fresh food ended on 27 May 2025, after Asda had already cut the rate from 10% to 5% in April 2024 and limited it to fresh products in 2023. Guides that still describe a 10% Asda Blue Light discount are out of date.

What Still Works at Asda

Blue Light Card still sells Asda Shopping Cards at 3.5% below face value, spent at the till like any Asda gift card. Because the card is a payment method, Asda Rewards still works as normal on the same shop, so the standard Cashpot earnings and the card saving can both apply.

On a £100 weekly shop paid for with a 3.5% card, the saving is £3.50 a week, around £180 over a year. That is smaller than the old cashback was on a fresh-heavy basket, but it covers the whole shop rather than fresh food alone.

Where the Card Saves More

Several other chains now offer a higher Shopping Card rate than Asda, with M&S at 6% and Tesco and Sainsbury’s at 4%. Every rate is compared in the supermarkets section.
