Tesco Blue Light Card Discount: 4% Shopping Cards, In Store Only

Tesco has no NHS discount, but Blue Light Card sells Tesco Shopping Cards at 4% below face value, which work in any Tesco store across groceries, F&F clothing and homeware. They cannot be used at tesco.com, so the saving applies to in-store shopping only.

Layering the Card With Clubcard

A Shopping Card is a way of paying rather than a code, so Clubcard Prices still apply at the till. Scanning the Clubcard first lowers the shelf prices, and paying with a 4% card then takes a further slice off the reduced total. On a £100 weekly shop the card alone saves £4, or roughly £200 over a year, and Tesco’s Aldi Price Match on selected products sits on top of both.

What the Card Does Not Cover

Like Blue Light Card’s other supermarket cards, it typically cannot be spent on petrol, prescriptions, tobacco, lottery tickets, stamps, PayPoint products, gift cards, top-ups and in-store concessions. Anyone who orders groceries on tesco.com needs a different route, since the card works only at the tills.

Sainsbury’s cards, by contrast, work online as well as in store, and every supermarket card rate is compared in the supermarkets section.
