Sainsbury’s gives Blue Light Card members two routes: Shopping Cards at 4% below face value, which can be spent in store and at sainsburys.co.uk, and a separate member discount code for online orders. There is no NHS discount at the checkout itself.
Nectar Prices and the Card
Nectar Prices still apply when paying with a Shopping Card, because the card is a means of payment rather than a promotional code, and Nectar points are collected as usual. Sainsbury’s also matches Aldi’s price on selected lines, so on a single shop the loyalty price, the price match and the 4% card can all play a part.
Argos Inside Sainsbury’s
The Argos counters inside many Sainsbury’s stores take Argos gift cards, but an Argos card cannot be used at the main Sainsbury’s tills, and Sainsbury’s gift cards have been refused at Argos counters. Shoppers who want one card for both can use the multi-brand gift card sold across the Sainsbury’s group.
Tesco cards carry the same 4% rate but work in store only, and the other chains are compared under supermarkets.
