Argos and Blue Light Card: Shopping Cards Instead of a Discount Code

Argos will not reduce a bill because a Blue Light Card is shown, and it runs no NHS pricing. The saving available to cardholders comes from a discounted Argos Shopping Card ordered through their membership, used exactly as an Argos gift card would be, online at argos.co.uk or in an Argos store, including the Argos counters inside Sainsbury’s, and it covers the full range from tech and appliances to furniture, toys and gifts.

Where an Argos Card Can and Cannot Be Spent

An Argos gift card works wherever the Argos name is over the counter, including click and collect orders picked up from a Sainsbury’s, and online at habitat.co.uk. It cannot be used at the main Sainsbury’s tills for groceries. The multi-brand gift card sold by the Sainsbury’s group is a different product: it spends in Sainsbury’s and Argos stores and online at argos.co.uk, sainsburys.co.uk, tu.co.uk and habitat.co.uk, with a limit of three multi-brand cards on a single Argos transaction.

Blue Light Card also sells Habitat gift cards with 4% taken off, and since Habitat cards can be handed over at the till in any Argos store, they give members a second discounted route into the Argos range. A £250 Habitat card bought that way costs £240 and spends in full on anything Argos sells, from a cordless vacuum to a child’s bike.

Nectar, Codes and Clearance

Argos belongs to the Sainsbury’s group and collects Nectar points on purchases, which can later be spent at Argos or Sainsbury’s. Promotional codes appear around the big retail events, usually as money off a minimum spend in categories such as toys or tech, and the clearance section carries discontinued models that have dropped in price. Paying with a Shopping Card does not stop a code or a clearance price applying, so the two savings can land on the same order.

Customers with the old Argos Card credit account have been moved to Argos Pay during 2026, and the new account can no longer be used to pay in Sainsbury’s stores or at Sainsbury’s petrol stations.

Ordering an Argos or Habitat card means joining Blue Light Card first, at £4.99 for two years, with NHS staff proving their employment through a staff pass or a payslip. The Shopping Card is then delivered digitally and can go towards an Argos order straight away, including one already reserved for collection.

Currys is the closer comparison for electricals, since it pairs its Shopping Card with a member code.
