O2 NHS Discount: Up to 25% Off Airtime Through O2 Open

O2 gives NHS staff up to 25% off the airtime part of O2 Refresh plans through its O2 Open scheme. Refresh splits the bill into a device plan and an airtime plan, and the discount comes off the airtime side for as long as the device plan runs.

The Conditions

The plan has to be bought directly from O2, in store, online or by phone, and the discount is claimed through O2’s Open page within 28 days of taking out the new Refresh agreement. SIM only plans are not covered, so a member of staff keeping their current phone gets nothing from O2 Open, and the discount stops when the device plan ends rather than carrying on with the airtime.

On a £25 a month airtime plan, 25% off saves £6.25 a month, about £150 over a 24-month device plan.

Family Plan and Volt

O2’s Family Plan gives up to 50% off airtime depending on how many O2 pay monthly numbers share an address, and Open codes can be passed to friends and family for their own Refresh plans. Households that also take Virgin Media broadband qualify for Volt, which doubles the data on eligible O2 plans and lifts the broadband to a faster tier.

For a SIM only plan, EE and Vodafone both offer NHS discounts that O2 does not.
