Blue Light Card members get 5% off Travelodge bookings at its UK hotels, via a code collected in the member account and entered when booking online or in the app. Retired NHS staff can use it too, since Blue Light Card now covers retirees from eligible professions.
Saver Rates and Flexible Rates
Travelodge sells non-refundable Saver rates and has promoted more than a million rooms at £35 or less, with amendments possible for a £12.50 fee before midday on the day of arrival. Flexible rates cost more but can be cancelled for a full refund up to midday on the arrival day. Recent promotions have added a further 15% off Saver rates booked 45 days or more ahead.
The rate choice usually matters more than the code. On a £60 Flexible night the 5% saves £3, while a Saver rate on the same room booked early can be far cheaper than any percentage off the Flexible price, so the member code earns most when it is applied to a Saver booking.
Business Bookings
Travelodge Business costs nothing to sign up for and takes 5% off flexible rate bookings for business customers, along with a business card offering up to six weeks of interest-free credit. For work trips, an NHS trust’s own travel booking arrangements usually come first, so it pays to ask before booking privately.
Premier Inn has no room discount through Blue Light Card, which makes Travelodge the stronger of the two budget chains for a member saving, while Hilton and Best Western also have member codes for room bookings.
